Septic Tank Cleaning Miami

Do I need my septic tank cleaned?

If your toilets aren't flushing, you're getting an odor in the house, or the tub is backing up it is time to get your tank cleaned. You need your septic tank pumped if it has been more than 1 year since the last pumpout or you don't know if the tank has been serviced.

Septic tanks or on-site sewage treatment and disposal systems serve more than 31 percent of Florida residents, and keeping tanks pumped, cleaned and in good repair not only saves money but also ensures a healthier environment in your own backyard. Our family-owned and operated business provides fast service, knowledgeable treatment, diligent system inspections and regular pumping and cleaning service to keep your system healthy and environmentally responsible.

How your Miami septic system works.

Each person uses between 100 and 300 gallons of water each day for drinking, bathing, swimming, laundry, washing dishes and using toilet facilities. Wastewater travels from the drains to your septic tank and consists of about 99 percent water and 1 percent organic and inorganic solids. The septic system works as follows to mimic the extraordinary cleaning power of nature:

  • Incoming water is stilled to allow solid materials to settle to the tank's bottom.
  • Enzymes and bacteria begin to breakdown organic materials.
  • Broken-down material forms a layer of sludge on the bottom of the tank.
  • Grease, soaps, and oils rise to the top and make up a scum layer.
  • The tank traps the scum and sludge. The water drains into the drainfield.
  • Clear water exits the back of the tank and enters the drainfield.
  • The drainfield is a series of perforated pipes, that drains the water overflow from the tank into the ground.

The process can continue for some time, but eventually, the sludge layer becomes too thick, and the drainfield clogs with sludge. Septic service (pumping often) keeps the system healthy and sustainable and prevents drainfields from clogging with sludge. Systems need occasional pumping to remove the sludge that accumulates in the bottom of tanks.

Depending on usage tanks should be pumped every 1-3 years. A tank in normal condition will take us 15 minutes to pump. If the tank has been neglected we need to pressure washto get the heavy solid waste out of the tank.

After the tank has been pumped, we will have you flush the toilets inside to make sure that everything is flowing to the tank clearly.

Deeper Into Septic Systems

Risks of a Clogged or Damaged Septic Tank
Clogged tanks or drainfield backups could cause backups in the house, slow draining toilets, gurgling toilets, and flooding inside. Drainfield failures could cause sinking and flooding in the yard. Septic system replacement costs as much as $10,000, and replacing a drainfield runs from $3,000 to $5,000. Servicing your system only costs a few hundred dollars per year, and a well-maintained system poses few risks and lasts between 20 and 30 years. Decomposing waste produces toxic gases that can kill within minutes, so you should always have your tank serviced by one of our trained professionals. Serviced correctly and pumped regularly, your system should last for many years and treat wastewater efficiently.
